Now that's 360 degree Mountain Views!

For spring break this year we kept it close to home this year. An active weather pattern which brought with it concerning avi conditions made the decision to explore a new to us corner of our local mountains the best choice.  We loaded up the camper to spend 4 days at the end of a trailhead where we would be able to wake up, walk out the door, and hop on snowmobiles after breakfast and a cup of coffee.  There is no better feeling than having a nice breakfast and heading strait out the door to comute to the mountains instead of work.  As luck would have it we experienced three days of pretty horrible weather.  High winds, almost no visibility, and on and off snow and cold temps had us feeling cheated after the first three days.  I wont lie, it was a pretty rough winter conditions wise with a cyclical pattern of abnormally higher than average temps followed by lower than average temps and minimal snowfall.  The roads had begun to melt out by mid March and hot temps and rain events fried the pack increasing the threat of massive wet slides. Then a period of boiler plate snow.  It looked like winter finally showed up the last week of March through all of April.  On the 4th day the clouds cleared and we were treated to the views we knew hid behind the clouds the first three days, which was definitely the highlight of the trip.  Even though weather and views did not play along we were able to investigate the entire zone and its access which is the best thing you can do on tough weather days, lining us up with a plethora of knowledge for the next outing.  Big wild country with ski lines in every direction for miles.  Likely one of the best 360 degree views I have seen from a vista in Montana.
