All Aspects Traverse

The loose goal for this day was to head out and take a look at the east face of one of our favorite peaks.  If it was in, ski it, and a secondary goal of riding the east face of its adjacent partner to the south.  The main reason for this being, if we could ride both of these faces, it would mark the completion of our very loose goal over the past few seasons to ski every aspect of all three of these peaks.  It ended up being a perfectly beautiful day.  Clean, smooth snow, just warmed enough to be fun and edge able yet not unstable.  Complete runs from top to the lake bottoms, and the right combination of light wind, sun and cloud cover to make the day perfect.   It was one of those days that we get in Montana where the light and the clear skies almost made the landscape look unreal.  I was memorized by the lighting all day.   We were able to ride the east face in about the only condition I would ride it, which was the perfect shape it was in that day.   It was steeper than it looked with a spicy down climb over the thinnest section of cornice and resulted in a few intimidating turns at the steepest section off the top.  This was followed by another enjoyable run down the east face of the peak to the south which was new to us and just as enjoyable.  On a whim with time to spare we decided to reclimb the 2nd peak descend its southern run, then climb the third peak to the south and descend its southern run,  Making for a complete traverse of the three peaks with 2 new to us runs and 4 total runs.  An amazing day.
