Trailhead Camping and Ski Touring-May 16-17

It was great to get out one last time while the coverage was still in and incorporate some camping while enjoying a few casual tours in typical spring weather.  It was nice to go with a group of folks and mix up out typical dynamic.  As was to be expected conditions were less than ideal after a cold, wet storm dropped a few inches of new snow, but regardless the scenery was impressive as always, and the weather, although started out foggy, turned beautiful for the rest of the day.   This allowed us to enjoy two runs, and a long walk in an amazing venue.  As with all seasons it was not hard to tell that conditions would likely deteriorate quickly following this weekend.  With almost 2 inches of rain the following week, followed by hot temperatures the next, its seems this might have been my last snowy adventure to this range for the remainder of my snow season.  I plan to return however this summer and complete a few repeats with running shoes as opposed to a snowboard.  What a great cap to an amazing season in this range!
