Pushing through Mid December

I wish I could say that I am surprised, but I've become cynical and it seems more likely than not that this is the norm.  The two early storms that delivered impressive amounts of snow were a blessing and a curse.  For a moment I let my hopes escalate.  Some of the early season snow depths were deep enough, if it could just keep periodically snowing we might build a solid foundation.  Then.....close to three weeks of high pressure and no precipitation.  The perfect recipe.  Valley inversion and hoar crystals.  So much beauty can be found in both.  Its still thin out there.  While I can speculate on the future of our foundation,  I've been surprised before on how fast it can recover. The early low snow made access interesting, and the dry spell dampened the early motivation, I can report that the snow has stayed surprisingly preserved.  Fortunate for cold temps and short days.  While turns have been variable,  If you look hard enough you can still find a handful of smile inducing ones....
