Been spending a lot of time in the skin track thinking. Thinking about family, age, goals, and what I want to do with the new year that is upon us. If I learned anything from 2020, it is that weather we like it or not, we must be flexible and adapt to unforeseen change. I will continue to work on that. On a completely random note I have also been thinking about how many of the areas we ski are a product of logging. I was reminded of this when I discovered an old pully wheel still cabled to a tree in one of our local spots. The snow shallow enough to finally see it after missing it for years. Its hard to admit, but over the last 20 years of skiing in these areas, the trees that were once very small are now substantial in size and have started to make some of the areas a little harder to ski. Makes me appreciate some aspects of logging, the occupation that my family put food on the table with. This is something I never thought about when pondering aging. Nevertheless, with the current snowpack keeping it mellow and enjoying your time out is the current state of mind, and although still a bit shallow, the snow has been of good quality.
